HURU'S Mission

HURU’s core mission is to empower girls by providing them with the knowledge and resources they need to develop into healthy, economically secure women. With this goal in mind, HURU has developed an Empowerment Kit that will provide girls with the otherwise difficult to obtain resources and knowledge that they need to meet their menstrual needs. HURU Empowerment Kits are thus designed to remove a major obstacle to the educational success of adolescent girls and provide them with essential sexual and reproductive health information. Empowerment through education leads to a reduction in the incidence of HIV/AIDS, and ensures that girls develop the life skills necessary to achieve self-sufficiency. HURU’s commitment to local production also has the capacity to create new employment and development opportunities.
